Once you create and save protocol variants in Experiment Designer, you can share these with all the other users. Protocol variants saved in your own workspace should become part of the jar file so that whoever installs the new version of GRITS can have access to these protocol variants. In order to do that, copy the protocol variants you've saved from your configuration directory to the experiment designer plugin's protocols folder.

The location of the protocol variants in your local installation:

  • Deployment: Protocol variant files can be found in the following sub-folder of the installation folder: GRITS\configuration\edu.uga.ccrc.simiantools\org.grits.toolbox.editor.experimentdesigner\protocols
  • Eclipse: Protocol variant files of the project running in Eclipse can be found in the sub-folder of the Eclipse workspace folder: .metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.pde.core\SimianTools.product\edu.uga.ccrc.simiantools\org.grits.toolbox.editor.experimentdesigner\protocols. Please note that SimianTools.product is the name of the product file that is executed.

The location to copy into (jar file):

  • org.grits.toolbox.editor.experimentdesigner/protocols/

Whenever you make a new installation, these protocol variants will become available to the users. Experiment Designer plugin will try to copy all the variants from the jar into the user's local configuration directory. If the local system already contains a protocol variant with the same file name, it will not be overridden.
